Our Team

Leadership Team

1. Dr. Oliver Jones – Chairman

Bio: Dr. Oliver Jones is a visionary leader with over 30 years of experience in community development, economic policy, and educational initiatives. He holds a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership, a MBA for Syracuse, and Global Energy Cert from Harvard University. He has served in various capacities, including as a senior advisor to multiple international development organizations and founding Chairman of SourceEnergy Group. Dr. Jones is passionate about creating sustainable growth and fostering equitable opportunities for all communities.

2. Octavia Jones – Executive Co-Director

Bio: Octavia Jones, daughter of Dr. Oliver Jones, leads ELEO GDS LLC at Princeton University. With a background in public policy and international relations, Octavia has dedicated her career to driving social and economic change. She plans to pursue a Master’s degree from Princeton University and has been instrumental in developing and implementing DHPAC’s strategic initiatives. Octavia’s leadership and vision have been pivotal in fostering partnerships and advocating for policies that support community development and economic empowerment.

2. Olivia Jones – Executive Co-Director

Bio: Olivia Jones serves as the Executive Co-Director of DHPAC and is the CEO of Global Water Systems. With a deep commitment to environmental sustainability and community development, Olivia has been at the forefront of initiatives that promote access to clean water and sustainable water management practices. Her role as CEO of Global Water Systems has enabled her to spearhead projects that provide innovative water solutions to underserved communities. Olivia’s leadership and expertise in environmental policy and sustainable development have been instrumental in driving DHPAC’s mission forward.

3. Elijah Thompson – Director of Economic Development

Bio: Elijah Thompson brings over 20 years of experience in economic development and project management to DHPAC. He has worked with various non-profits and governmental organizations to create programs that stimulate local economies and support small businesses. Elijah holds an MBA from the University of Chicago and is currently leading the SEG Sacred Trust Fund project.

3. Carrie Nikitin – Director of Environmental Sustainability

Bio: Ms. Carrie Nikitin has extensive experience as an advisor and founder of startup companies. She currently leads SourceEnergy’s Revolution Wealth Opportunity Zone Fund and the Venture Capital Fund. Ms. Nikitin is a board member in both private and public organizations, bringing strong entrepreneurship and financial skills combined with excellent analytical abilities. She has a proven track record in setting up new businesses and has experience in international environments.

With extensive experience in renewable energy, environmental policy, and sustainable development, Ms. Nikitin oversees all renewable energy projects within DHPAC, ensuring they meet the highest standards of environmental sustainability. Her role is crucial in driving DHPAC’s mission to promote environmental sustainability and responsible development practices.

4. Joe Fletcher – Director of Community Engagement

Bio: Joe Fletcher has over twenty-five years of entrepreneurial leadership. He has a proven track record in events, fundraising, donor relations, establishing strategic alliances, team recruitment, charity events, identifying opportunities, and building successful partnerships.

Starting out in entertainment, Fletcher has worked extensively across the globe with projects in England, France, South Africa, Canada, Tobago, Nigeria, and across the US. Since founding US Abroad (UK) Ltd. based in London in 1980, Fletcher has consistently demonstrated his ability to make things happen in business through great communication and hard work.

Fletcher has a long history in the entertainment field, having produced over 1500 concerts and festivals worldwide. He has worked with artists such as Beyonce, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Pink, 50 Cent, Keith Urban, Ziggy Marley, Rihanna, Kelly Clarkson, Maroon 5, Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Elton John, Motley Crue, Van Halen, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Ray Charles, and many others. In addition to his extensive background in global event production, Fletcher has set up festivals in Lagos, Nigeria; London, England; Provence, France; Trinidad & Tobago; South Africa, and more. He has executed events around the world, producing political rallies and events for President Obama and Vice President Biden as a member of the White House Entertainment Advisory Council.

Fletcher is a seasoned professional in charity event planning, including gala dinners, food & wine festivals, large concerts, silent auctions, grant writing, and wrangling surrogate artists. He is known for his calm and focused approach, overseeing events from intimate dinners to festivals with budgets over $10 million.

Fletcher received his BA from Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts. He is married with two children and lives in Carmel Valley. He is dedicated to ensuring meaningful community involvement in all DHPAC projects.

1. Lisa Kim – Board Member

Bio: Lisa Kim is a financial expert with a strong background in banking and investment. She has over 25 years of experience in the financial sector and has served on the boards of several non-profit organizations. Lisa holds an MBA from Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and brings valuable insights into financial strategy and management to DHPAC.

2. David Miller – Board Member

Bio: David Miller is a legal expert specializing in corporate law and governance. He has been practicing law for over 20 years and has advised numerous organizations on compliance and regulatory matters. David holds a J.D. from Yale Law School and ensures that DHPAC operates within the legal framework while achieving its mission.

3. Dr. Maria Gonzalez – Board Member

Bio: Dr. Maria Gonzalez is a public health expert with a focus on health disparities and community health programs. She has a Doctorate in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University and has worked with various international health organizations. Dr. Gonzalez brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in health policy and community health initiatives to the DHPAC board.

4. John Anderson – Board Member

Bio: John Anderson is an experienced entrepreneur and business strategist. He has founded and led multiple successful startups and has a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities in the business world. John holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from MIT and contributes to DHPAC’s efforts to support local businesses and economic development.

5. Emily Clarke – Board Member

Bio: Emily Clarke is a renowned urban planner and architect. With a Master’s degree in Urban Planning from the University of California, Berkeley, she has been involved in numerous urban development projects that focus on sustainability and community inclusivity. Emily’s expertise in planning and development is invaluable to DHPAC’s mission to create vibrant, sustainable communities.

History of The Diaspora Health Political Action Committee (DHPAC)

The Diaspora Health Political Action Committee (DHPAC) was founded in 2010 with the vision of empowering underserved communities through strategic investments in economic development, environmental sustainability, and community well-being. The organization was established by a group of passionate individuals who recognized the need for a dedicated effort to address the socio-economic and health disparities faced by marginalized communities in the United States and globally.

Founding and Early Years (2010-2015)

  • 2010: DHPAC was officially founded by Dr. Oliver Jones, along with a group of like-minded individuals committed to social justice and community empowerment. The organization’s primary focus was on advocating for policies that promote health equity and economic opportunities for the diaspora communities.
  • 2011-2013: DHPAC launched its first major initiative, the Community Health and Wellness Program, which aimed to provide accessible health education and services to underserved neighborhoods. The program was highly successful and laid the foundation for future community-focused projects.
  • 2014-2015: The organization expanded its efforts to include economic development initiatives, such as small business support and workforce development programs. These initiatives aimed to create sustainable economic opportunities and reduce poverty in targeted communities.

Growth and Expansion (2016-2020)

  • 2016: Under the leadership of Octavia Jones, DHPAC expanded its focus to include environmental sustainability. The organization launched the Green Communities Project, which promoted renewable energy and sustainable practices in urban areas.

Recent Developments and Future Vision (2021-Present)

  • 2021-2023: DHPAC continued to grow its impact by launching the SEG Sacred Trust Fund and other financial and technical initiatives. The organization also focused on strengthening its internal capabilities and expanding its leadership team.
  • 2024: In alignment with the Biden-Harris administration’s commitment to industrial decarbonization and economic revitalization, DHPAC identified 5,000 locations within Opportunity Zones to establish Community Development Entities (CDEs). These CDEs will serve as hubs for economic activity, renewable energy generation, and community engagement.
